Course Accessibility

The George Washington University (GW) is committed to providing accessible course materials to students with disabilities. Accessible course materials include more than websites and software, but also apply to electronic documents like those created using Microsoft Word or PowerPoint. Universal Design for Learning principles ensures that course materials benefit not only students with disabilities, but also all GW students.

Improve Course Accessibility with Blackboard Ally

Blackboard Ally reviews the files uploaded to a Blackboard course, scores how well the content meets accessibility requirements, and then provides guidance and tips on improving accessibility. Ally also creates alternative formats of course files allowing students to download the file type that best suits their needs.

To start using Ally in your Blackboard courses, email [email protected] with a list of courses for which you want Ally enabled. For assistance with Ally, contact the Instructional Technology Lab.
